On 22 July 2019, the 17 funders who have supported the Community Organising Fellowship since 2014 received Philanthropy Australia’s annual Environmental Award during a ceremony held at the NSW Art Gallery. The award, in its third year, was sponsored by the Australian Environmental Grantmakers Network.
Our Community Organising Fellowship has been supported by seventeen donors – foundations, family trusts and individuals. Their support has created a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity for 150 community organisers and leaders to deepen the skills they need to build people power, and to forge deep, trusting connections that enable them to form lasting alliances.
We’re especially grateful to Ann and Bruce McGregor whose Melliodora Fund has supported the Fellowship since 2014 and who nominated the Fellowship for this award. Ann and Bruce received the award last night on behalf of our 17 funders and donors.
The seven award categories are described on Philanthropy Australia’s website and their description of our Fellowship is here. The awards were announced in Fundraising and Philanthropy and received a write-up in Pro Bono Australia’s journal.
