What's on top?Applications are now open for the 2020 Community Organising Fellowship for social and environmental justice campaigners. In just six years, we’ve created a national network of 150 effective organisers who are leading many of Australia’s high-impact campaigns. Our six cohorts have included activists from the climate, environment and union movements, campaigns for Aboriginal self-determination and justice, refugee and asylum seeker campaigns, and many other social movements. We welcome and maximise diversity. We've had fellows from 19 to 78, urban and rural communities, grassroots campaigns and big NGOs. What they've had in common is a passion to learn and win, and at least a few years campaign experience. Applications close September 30. Read more about the Fellowship in this enews and on our website. Let us know if you need longer to prepare your application, or want to talk about our sliding scale of fees and opportunities for partial or full scholarships. Click here to download the application form. Successful applicants and wait-listed applicants will be notified by early November. Welcome to our new subscribers. I hope you find the links and resources in the newsletter useful in your campaigning and activist education work.

Replicating here a useful Twitter thread from @tuckeve 1/ Ever since I was in graduate school, I thought I hated giving public talks. Such a daunting task may leave us to wonder just how much ordinary citizens with seemingly no extraordinary power can really accomplish …
